How do I spell scrumptious? “B-A-K-L-A-V-A”. Not just any baklava though. Mediterranean Express’ baklavas. I’ve had many tasty baklavas in my lifetime, but their baklavas are to die for. Somehow, someway, Mediterranean Express managed to perfect the baklava. A superb balance of sweet, salty, and light buttery goodness, filled with a thick layer of cashews and topped off with pistachios overflowing from its flaky filo pastry shell. They will truly delight and satisfy your taste buds.
Their baklavas are not only delectable, they are also affordable. Their freshly baked Mediterranean pastries are only $2.50 and comparable to a slice of pie in size. I usually see baklavas in the shape of a triangle and they are usually about a third the size of those found in Mediterranean Express, so considering its large portion and impeccable quality, it’s a great deal.
I typically order one of their many delicious menu items (I’ve decided to try everything on their menu at least once), and since their baklavas are right next to the counter, tempting me with their exquisite presence, I give in all the time. Yes, I’m weak, I admit it, but hey I don’t ever regret my decision. A meal without one of their baklavas is like cookies without milk. It’s not a choice, it’s a necessity. Keep in mind, most of its ingredients are nuts, specifically cashews and pistachios, which are quite nutritious, so don’t feel so guilty for indulging.
I’m sure you think I’m exaggerating, but I assure you that I’m not, and below is visual proof to support my words.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. These are real baklavas flooded with real pistachios. If you think they look heavenly, wait until you taste them. My words and these photos do not do them justice. I’m drooling and craving one right now as I type these words.
